For my birthday in February this year i was gifted a Stila Eyes are the window palette in “Soul” so i’ve had quite a lot of time to play around with it. It is one of the few high end palettes that i own and I quite enjoy it.
It has beautiful rose gold packaging with the Stila logo on the front and the names of all the shades on the back. The palette also comes with a small pamphlet that demonstrate 3 eye looks that could be done with the palette. One of my favourite things about the palette is that it has a giant mirror inside. It doesn’t waste an space with boarders or writing, it’s all mirror. I also like that the names of the shades aren’t inside the palette as it leaves room for more eyeshadow space. The palette comes with 12 shades, 5 matte and 7 shimmer.
I love the pigment of all the colours except for the 2 lighter matte shades, “light” and “heart” which are the least pigmented of the bunch. In addition, i think there is a slight excessive amount of shimmery shades and i often find myself going to other palettes that i have for more matte colours. In saying that, the shimmery colours are beautiful but there’s only so many shimmery colours that you can put on your eyelid at once.
Top to bottom in the photo below: Light, Individual, Being, Kitten, Affection, Character, Thought, Heart, Peace, Vitality, Substance, Essence.
One of my go-to eye looks using this palette is to blend “individual” through my crease, pack “heart” on my lid, blend “being” in my outer corner and then to use “light” to highlight my inner corner and brow bone. This is a perfect day time look or for when you’re wearing minimal makeup.
This palette is amazing for night time looks because of the amazing pigmentation of the shimmery colours that stand out so beautifully on the eye.
Warning: the black colour “essence” is extremely pigmented so apply very small amounts at a time and blend with a fluffy brush.
This palette retails for $71AUD and can be bought from Mecca or Sephora in Australia. I think the palette is easily comparable to Urban Decay’s Naked palette that has 12 smaller pans of of eyeshadow and retails for $83AUD.
I hope you found this post useful. Please comment any thoughts you have on this palette or any other palettes that you love, high end or drugstore.
