Concealer Comparison

Concealer is such a necessity for me when it comes to makeup. I wear it on top of foundation, on its own, as a highlighter and as a spot concealer so which ever concealer i use, it has to be able to get the job done.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

This concealer probably wins in terms of being worn without foundation. It blends into the skin really well, it’s quite brightening under the eye and doesn’t have too much coverage; so you can’t quite tell that I’m wearing concealer on those “no makeup” days. However, the lack of coverage can also be a downfall for when I’m wearing a full face of makeup as I feel that it doesn’t conceal my under-eye area as much as I’d like it to, and it isn’t great for spot concealing. The other thing that I don’t like is that I feel that I frequently have to dip the applicator back into the tube for more product.

Australis Banana Concealer

This is a new release from Australis and I was so excited to try it seeing as I LOVE the Banana Powder.  My favourite thing about this concealer is the banana colour. The yellow tone suits my light-medium skin tone so much and looks so brightening over foundation or even on its own. I also enjoy the clicker on the back and the brush applicator. I’ve never applied concealer like that before so I’ve liked trying something different. You get heaps of product per click which is great. My only problem with this concealer is that the coverage isn’t quite at the level that I’d like it to be. Hence, I only wear it without foundation, or with a BB cream for more day-to-day makeup. I also wouldn’t suggest to use it as a spot concealer as it’s so brightening, it would be visible that spot has been concealed.

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

This has to be by far my favourite concealer of the bunch. It ticks pretty much all of my boxes. It’s super brightening under the eyes and has amazing coverage so it’s definitely my go-to concealer for whenever I wear proper foundation (and not BB cream). Even though this concealer has a fuller coverage, I still wear it on it’s own when I don’t feel like wearing a foundation of any kind and it doesn’t cake up which is definitely a plus. It has a pretty large applicator which is great for putting a lot of product under the eye but isn’t ideal for precise spot correcting. I still absolutely love it though. The only thing that I dislike is that it’s tested on animals, so I’m definitely on the hunt for a cruelty-free concealer. Maybe the Tarte Shape Tape?

I hope you found this post useful and that it possibly helped you find the right one. What’s your favourite concealer?
